SIR is a public benefit non-profit organization providing for the welfare of men from all walks of life who are pursuing a common goal, namely, the enjoyment of their later years with dignity and pride, by assisting these senior citizens to renew former friendships and associations and affording them an opportunity to make new friends through association with other men who also face the particular problems that confront men upon their retirement.
SIR Branch 8 meets for lunch on the second Monday each month at the Boundary Oak Golf Club in Walnut Creek. Most of our members come from the Walnut Creek, Concord, and Pleasant Hill areas, but we also have members from Alamo, Brentwood, Danville, San Ramon, Lamorinda, Clayton, and other local cities. If you can drive to lunch, you are welcome!
Activities: We have over 270 active members and we organize over 50 separate activities which are listed in the menu on this webpage. If there’s an activity you are interested in, and we don’t offer it, please let our Activity Coordinator know about it.
Membership: If you are interested in becoming a member, and don’t know a Sir, please click on the “How to Join Us” tab in the horizontal menu bar. There you will find out how to start the easy application process.
If you have a friend who is a Sir, he can start the process by simply inviting you to lunch.
Men enjoying active retirement: We are a very friendly group and we subscribe to the motto “Make friends for life”! So plan to enjoy your retirement to the fullest! Come to lunch with us (see the Invitation to Lunch menu item), see who we are, then get involved in any of our wide choice of activities.
